Data Privacy

What LasagnaFi stores, what actually reaches the AI, and how you can verify every part of it yourself.

Your private information redacted

Your name, institution and account numbers are tokenized before any prompt leaves your account, so the model never receives anything that identifies you. Balances, rates and dates pass through unchanged, because the answer depends on those numbers, and the tokens are resolved before the answer reaches your screen.

  • Names, banks and account numbers are replaced with codes
  • Balances, rates and dates are sent unchanged
  • The AI provider receives nothing that identifies you
What leaves your device
Nothing removed yet
name Dana Whitfield
bank Lakeside Bank
account 4417
balance $9,450
savings rate 15.2%

Your balances and rates go through untouched. Anything that names you does not.

Account connections are read only

Your accounts connect through Plaid with read-only scope, which covers balances, holdings and transactions. No payment, transfer or account change is possible through that connection, and your bank password is never shared with us.

  • You sign in at your bank, so LasagnaFi never sees the password
  • Any institution can be disconnected from settings
  • Disconnecting stops the sync immediately
What the connection allows
Read balances, holdings and transactions So your net worth and your actions stay current.
Move money, pay a bill, open an account Not possible. The connection has no write access.
See your bank password Not possible. You sign in to your bank, not to us.

All of it is open source

All of LasagnaFi is open source, scrub layer included, so you can read exactly what happens to your data. Chat, insights and the planning tools all go through that one layer, and a test in the repo checks that nothing else calls the model directly.

  • MIT licensed, on GitHub
  • A test in the repo checks for any call that skips the scrub layer
  • The whole app can be run on your own server

The scrub layer
scrub.tsllm-boundary.test.ts
export function scrub(input: Facts) {  return {    ...input,    holder: token(input.holder),    bank:   token(input.bank),    acct:   token(input.acct),    balance: input.balance,   // untouched  };}

Identifying fields are swapped for codes, and swapped back on the way out.

scrub.tsllm-boundary.test.ts
it("never imports the model directly", () => {  const direct = sourceFiles()    .filter(f => f.imports("ai"))    .filter(f => f !== "lib/llm.ts");  expect(direct).toEqual([]);});PASS  1 test, 0 failures

A test in the repo checks that no other file calls the model directly.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account yourself from settings. It removes your connected accounts, balances, chat history and uploaded documents, and cuts the Plaid connection at the same time.

  • Available in settings, no support request needed
  • Bank connections are cut at the same time
  • Your data is not sold or shared with advertisers
